Kellie Plath-Owner and Artistic Director
Kellie Plath joined the faculty of AOD in 1983 and has been a pivotal force in its success ever since. With a passion for dance that began with her mother, Mary Cummings, the founder of AOD, Kellie honed her skills in California and New York before returning to her roots in the Midwest. In 1993, she established the award-winning company program, serving as its director, teacher, and creative visionary.
Since 2004, Kellie has been co-owner and artistic director of AOD, working alongside her husband, Chris, and their three daughters, all of whom are deeply immersed in the dance industry. This family’s extensive experience and creative energy underscore their commitment to the art form and to fostering a nurturing environment at AOD.
Kellie is actively involved in every facet of the studio, from overseeing the curriculum to supporting her faculty and engaging with dancers at all levels. Under her guidance, students achieve remarkable success, excelling in prestigious dance programs and careers, while also thriving in various life paths. Kellie is dedicated to creating an environment where the unique growth experiences offered by AOD help each student realize their full potential. She believes that the combination of exceptional dance training and a supportive atmosphere equips students to excel both within and beyond the dance world.
